Tawa

As a historic name in Italian graffiti, Tawa has reproduced the unique, distinctive style he invented, known as Anatomic Style to canvas. His graffiti letters feature a bone structure that evolves on canvas, repeating and deforming a central backbone generated by his tag, criss-crossing it with tyre tracks that maintain a street connection. The materials used are typical of urban scenarios: asphalt, concrete, grout, advertising posters and sand. He uses a spatula to spread his medium with decisive strokes, enhancing it with gold leaf to celebrate Milan and the Madonnina, the golden statue of the Virgin topping the Duomo spire, honoured witnesses of Tawa’s birth and growth as an artist.
